there are a million of these doors games on the google playstore.
they are high quality but you have to pay to unlock most of the levels and the price is too high.
it should be $1 or $2 to unlock the full game. if it were, i'd probably have given you guys upwards of $20 by now.

lovely aesthetics but it's annoying how you run out of energy so quickly in every level... and how you have to hold 'r' to restart. why not just restart when we die..?
we've done some updates to make the battery less stressful
was trying to remember why i didn't wishlist this during nextfest. then i got to the jumps where you have to somehow run towards the edge then suddenly switch directions, then pulse... without the momentum subtraction from the anti-direction arrow you're holding slowing you down too much.. and also jumping
it feels so HORRIBLE. ruins the whole "polished platformer" feel so much that i guarantee you, wheter you're willing to accept it or not, it was a huge design error.
re: author: i'm glad to hear that. i guess i'll put it on my wishlist on steam after all. please just clean that ability up. i have no other complaints and i'm an absolute whore for metroidvanias of any kind
Hey, thanks for honest feedback! This is definitely something we're willing to acknowledge and work on.
Internally as we're working towards a full release, we have totally taken this ability back to the drawing board and we've made some significant adjustments so it feels more useful and intuitive.
i often his Z to dash but it doesn't register because the game is still updating the movements of the enemies. then i hit the arrow to dash in a given direction. but since the z wasn't registered, it just walks me in that direction and i take damage.
that alone is enough to give this a zero.
the controls are very bad.
I have the perfect game for you, is called Red Ronin, is one of my games, like Undergrave but with a fast paced combat, there's a demo on Steam if you want to try.

my main complaint would be the sound effects, especially the sound effect for regular movement. not pleasing at all.

got pretty hard pretty quickly. but still great.
i'd say make some of the noninteractible sprites look more different from the interactible ones.
e.g. logs that you can't cut shouldn't have a similar color palette and size/position/etc. to the ones you cut down.

Great ideas! Thank you, this feedback was really useful. I will think how to go with that on my future releases, but for this one I also kinda wanted to not really make the breakables stand out since I wanted them to really look like natural part of the forest. But I think there are ways to do it even while making it stand out a bit ;)

one criticism i have is that the little flower things that spit out fireballs or w/e are very annoying. they kind of break the overall flow of the game.

spent a solid minute clicking everything and hitting every key possible until i noticed in the tiny little text in the game designed for people playing on 320x240 displays that you wanted me to equip some stupid item before letting me play
i HATE tutorials. they're condescending and boring.
let players explore and learn mechanics organically.
plus you commit that annoying cardinal sin of forcing the player to move their hand between the mouse and keyboard. why? how did that not occur to you as kinetically cacophonous during testing?

great game.
few suggestions:
1. don't reset us when we die. give us something so that our progress wasn't for nothing
2. zoom out as our ship becomes bigger
3. let us sell components. if you just fill out your starting slots you're screwed.
4. get rid of the extenders that just eat up one slot and give you one slot. they are completely pointless.
5. add the tag: shmupgrade. that describes this genre perfectly and is a term i invented.

1. Meta progression would be really cool for a game like this. Within the constraints of only having 4 hours per person to work on this, we had to cut some corners, but for a full release, that would be the way to go for sure!
2. This is actually the case already. The camera zooms out when you add size modules.
3. This is a much requested feature and I think you're right. That, with some tradeoff, would make the game better.
4. I agree that they feel a bit useless in most cases right now. I think we should have added a slot on the corners / in the middle of the pipes.
