This is just.. such a bad incremental.

Such a bad UI. So little actual meaningful content. Nothing changes. Just the numbers. Nothing changes mechanically. The cut-away upgrades menus is so unnecessary. The way you weren't able to get music working in the game window without an embedded player that turns off when you go to a different menu.

I could go on and on.. but it's just not worth it. Clean up your design and learn a bit more about what makes an incremental fun (hint: unfolding)

applessmillion responds:

I will admit, it has been a few years since I've been in the incremental game territory and much has changed. Games like mine from 2015 aren't really that great in the landscape of what incremental games are now. UI is a mess, but it's the best I could come up with after testing cross-platform, multi-resolution displays.
Thanks for the feedback, and I'll keep some of your points in mind if I end up creating another incremental game in the future!

no upgrades; not interested.

Starblinky responds:

There’s lots of upgrades you can unlock! :)

really missed opportunity here. should have had lots of upgrades.

Franuka responds:

I'm sorry you think so...
It's my first project, so I wanted to keep it simple.
I'm planning on adding many more upgrades, enemies and maps on a future release.

You absolutely get 0 stars for having no ability to pause or mute.

edit: I'll up it to a 2 :p Because I just don't like that I can't do that from within an actual play session

gamemakertim responds:

There is a master volume, music volume, sfx volume bar in the settings in the home menu. So can you up the rating to 2.5?

really terrible difficulty progression.

and having a limited number of moves removes any relaxation aspect of this game. it's a stressful game where you have to play perfectly literally from level 2.

also I found the game art and UI design very unattractive.

I'm a little curious why in 2020 you elected to use such a tiny game window. On my 4k display, your game is minuscule.

Also why is the dialog button (which you have to spam to beat this game) located off in the upper right?

And why can't we mouse over individual items we've collected to see what they are?

Sometimes in dialog or item acquisition screens, the continue button was too dark or blended in with its background and was hard to see/find.

very broken. played on easy with tutorial. game went into an unwinnable state early on.

played multiple more times on easy.

it seemed when i disabled tutorial from main menu before starting a new game (and not in the game, during the game), then it played normally like i'd seen on a youtube video posted in the itchi.io comments.

i was very meticulous and patient in the way i played it in every attempt. it is a bug in your game in the way that it locks you into cards that can't win the game.

i suggest you fix it. but it doesn't matter what i say. you will or you won't.

after i got the jewel, i was running around for awhile and there was nowhere new to go.

this is a pretty serious design flaw imo.

re author: ya but i skipped past the dialog. so how would i know to do that?

CarsonKompon responds:

The first NPC tells you about his Jewel. Upon finding it you should try returning his Jewel to him :)

0/5 for ramping up the quality of the cards the opponent receives to all but guarantee they win. i assume you do it to balance that we can cheat.

but it made two of the opponents impossible to beat. how idiotic.

christ i just tried 6 more hands in a row to make sure it wasn't just bad luck. it is ridiculous what you've done here. i have this npc up to 80k now. i'll never be able to grind that down.

in your lack of poker skill/knowledge you have come to the conclusion that being able to see your opponent's cards makes that big of a difference. i'd go head to head with 90% of poker players i meet with my cards face up and it wouldn't change the outcome. (i'd slow roll and burn every last one of them)

being able to peek at the flop or something would make an enormous difference. but just being able to peek is not even 1/10 as powerful as being fed winning cards every time. and i can't swap them because that ability just gives an error message about too much heat on him.

DAIRYDOG responds:

First of all, lol.

Secondly, the cards are completely random. The opponents do not have an advantage over you in any way. It’s pure chance if you were getting unlucky. If you don’t believe me, the full source code is available. ;)

I’m working on adding a friend with the ability to peek at the flop in the full version.

Reach out to a loved one if you need help.

Thoughts and prayers.

why would you let us accidentally skip instructional dialog with no way to retrieve it..???

Noeloskar responds:

Well you can just replay the tutorial, it was a jam game so i didn't had time to implement a dialog log
