dietzribi never a miss

pretty boring and way too easy. and the songs aren't great. at least neither of the first two in the story which was as far as i got before i realized i wasn't interested in continuing.

overall the graphics were the biggest turnoff.

wish the upgrades had been doled out piecemeal ala metroidvania with some backtracking. stuff like crouch walking and double jump, etc.

nice though.

i liked it but, despite it seeming easy.. i always ended up in serious trouble.

i feel like i'm missing something big in how this game is meant to work/be played.

it's just boxes dropping changing my weapon type.. and me freezing if i stay away from the barrel too long.

that's literally it.

edit: so i refreshed and tried again and this time i arbitrarily shot at the little wooden posts in order to change their graphic from.. a wooden post to a skinner looking wooden post and that started the "game" game.

not sure how we were supposed to know to do that. i was reading the tutorial messages at the bottom. i don't think they ever told me to modify the wooden post graphics. and if they did.. then they did it in passing and went away and were replaced with other unrelated messages.

i'm raising the score from a 0 to a 2 because now i see it wasn't broken per se but just has bad design in the player training department.

the aesthetics are all on point and the mechanics feel good. but the semi-softlocking of the game was so infuriating that i don't feel like giving it much more of a shot.

second level... you can't get past the water without putting out the torch. even if you get a running jump right off the edge.

lame.

i don't like how your towers get damaged and die. i don't like that you can't exit/quit/restart once you've started a level. i don't like the look of the playing field and how towers look like they aren't being placed in a valid location before you place them. (translucent which indicates invalid placement to anyone who has ever played a game ever)

lots more i didn't like too!

actually the enterprise's ongoing 7 season mission was to seek out new life and civilizations and boldly go where no man had gone before.

not to go around shooting and killing like this.

Have you seen Q-Who, Best of Both Worlds, or Star Trek First Contact? Starfleet was defending itself from assimilation at the hands of the Borg. They didn't give them much choice but to destroy the multiple Borg ships that were sent towards Earth else the entire Federation would be destroyed.

Beyond that, this is a shmup with a Star Trek theme, not meant to be 100% canon.

My thought process was a game where you can take out your aggression on the Borg. Hopefully this is fun and I think pretty canon for Worf and Captain Picard overall as seen in First Contact.

need more upgrades... things get too overwhelming too fast and if we had like multi-directional flame spraying or fireballs that bounced between targets or flame rods rotating around us, etc. etc.

too much dialog.. i feel like there is a lot to this but i simply don't have the patience to explore it.
