not an improvement over prequel

the first game was great, though it had some serious flaws.

none of the flaws were fixed (this is the exact same game with some new tiles and a couple new weapon/enemy sprites)

unfixed problems:

-the moving camera. this is just terrible. if your guy stayed at the center of the camera, navigation would be: a. more seamless, b. not afflicted by the problem of clicking off the applet and entering menu accidentally

-no markers for barricades on the minimap

-no markers for turrets on the minimap

-no sound/ambience controls. you can't mute the sound

since these issues were brought up before, this title can't be considered passing. so i give it just barely below a passing score, since it's still a great game.

unplayable

i have no idea what all these reviews saying you can keep the business man in the air indefinitely are going on about.

the business man blocks almost every hit. upgrades increase in cost so fast you can't really do anything.

i don't see how people are able to kick forever, kicking costs power and you only have a limited amount. if i am lucky and get like 4 or 5 head kicks, then i might have enough power for two or three kicks (three at best)

also i don't understand why the tooltip for highkick (in the upgrades menu) says to click either the business man or the ninja. those seem to be two totally different things.

kicking the ninja seems to give you 1 energy.. and kicking the business man takes a bunch of energy away.

also why would you click the business man instead of the button on the left? why have both.

i'm missing something.. because this game makes no sense to me.

i think it's probably just poorly designed..

amazing

top notch graphics
amazing sound
overall ambiance was mindblowing
presentation was solid.. more than solid
gameplay/controls were incredibly intuitive and fluid
story progressed beautifully
soundtrack sounds like it was composed by mozart himself

not much more to say. this game blows every other video game ever made straight out of the water.

the part where you burned the building then flew the plane into the other building was lame though. take that out and this will be a 10/10

good with a huge flaw

wow. an upgrade-based game where if/when you die it's game over?

stupid.

Several problems

The game was filled with a lot of really simple bugs that should easily have been noticed and fixed during development.

Bugs:

-The auto-turrets shoot at the corpses of your enemies.
-Upgrade text stays fixed to the menu when you switch to a different upgrade sub-menu.
-Can't switch between weapons. I had the initial laser and the blue one with the auto-component. Once I switched to that I was never able to switch back to the default laser (which is the best non-automatic weapon btw).
-You can move to the left when you're in the dream-reality state after each wave.

Just generally bad design:

-The reality patches you have to shoot are utterly pointless. They occur at the very start of the leve. You pop em then are done. What's the point?
-Terrible animation.

I could go on but I think you get the point.

This game would be passable if you had put any time at all into polish. Was this made on a really short deadline?

cool

how is this done? i'm curious.

thank the NG staff in all their typical arrogance

to answer the author's question about what gave us the idea that this was a sequel:

the idiots at NG who write the descriptions for things on the front page, described this as a sequel.

strange system

i'm not sure why you designed it so when you progress to chapter 4, it logs you out, and sends you back to chapter 1 when you load your game.

i'm sure you intended to do this.. so i'm just curious as to why? is it some kind of game design idea? (let the player get somewhere in the game then send them back to the start for no reason)

interesting idea.. but i don't think it works very well.

i also have an interesting idea.. give you a 10 but then for no reason, switch it to a zero right before i click the "Submit Review!" button.

i hope you respect my idea as much as i respect yours.

uninteresting

i wasn't very interested in the game and to be honest.. due to level 14's difficulty i turned it off and don't plan on returning.
